Tunnel portal
A tunnel portal will be built on a slope between Minton Place and the Don Valley Parkway below it. The portal is where Ontario Line trains will emerge from underground subway tunnels onto elevated tracks and travel north on the Don Valley Crossing, on a new bridge that will connect the line to Thorncliffe Park.
A map of the Minton Place tunnel portal location (in green). The blue lines represent the underground tunnels, and the pink lines depict the above-ground tracks on the Don Valley Crossing.
An exit building will also be built above the portal to provide a safe path in case of an emergency evacuation from the subway tunnels.
After work is complete on the tunnel portal and emergency exit building, the former construction site on Minton Place will be transformed into a parkette for the community.
